About Me - Nathan Cookson!
I've always hated being bored.
It's a privilege to be bored, to be secure enough to have no worries or concerns that occupy every waking moment. I see this privilege in my boredom, which is part of why I detest it. Throughout my youth, I've found great joy in making people laugh, and I loved it so much, that over the years, I've just gotten good at it. I pursue laughter in everything, and hearing someone burst out is the greatest sense of pride I've ever felt. My ability to make others laugh not only helps me fight my boredom, but also cures other's as well. Spurring laughter, helping others find joy, helping humanity escape from boredom for even a moment: that is my life's work. Acting has always been my way to do that. The 39 Steps, my first performance on stage, was a revelation for me, because I found out that I really could make people laugh - and keep them laughing. Theatre is special to me because it helps people come together, enjoying a singular experience that can never be recreated, coming together through smiles and laughs. Even as a technician, you still get to be apart of the experience of entertaining people. You get to construct the world which facilitates that joy, sometimes you even get to be apart of the bits that are created. Theatre has become the most precious catalyst of my passion - helping others find joy and cure their boredom - and there is nothing else I would rather do.
